Oceans of NYC is a community-driven scavenger hunt to photograph and catalog every Fisker Ocean operating in New York City.

Fisker went bankrupt in 2024. The Oceans they shipped before that, though, are still out there — most of them registered as for-hire vehicles with the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission, quietly ferrying people around the five boroughs. There are roughly 2,500 of them on the road.

We’re trying to find them all. One photo at a time.

How it works

Spot an Ocean, snap a photo with the license plate visible, send it in. We validate the plate against the TLC database, and add it to the catalog. Every sighting gets posted to Bluesky, and the running tally lives at oceansofnyc.com.

That’s it. No app to install, no account to create. Just photos of weird-looking electric SUVs.
